Eco Friendly Wedding Tips!

Up until this last week, on most of the "top" wedding sites, I haven't seen very many articles promoting eco-friendly weddings. So I decided my first post would be eco friendly wedding tips, and POP! As soon as I sit down and start writing http://www.theknot.com/ has a blurb about it on their home page.... Well kudos to them, great minds think alike no?
Well I will not be abashed, here is what I researched and found out about eco-friendly weddings...
Remember, you don't have to be a die hard tree hugger to use some of these tips! Just eco-savvy.

1) Make sure the dealer you buy your ring from is eco-friendly. Find out about the origin of the stone of your choice make sure the stone is not a "blood" diamond. Research jewelers in your area, some are using recycled gold. Another idea, instead of buying a brand new band and stone, see if there is a family heirloom or find a vintage ring you could reset. It could even save you some cash! Check out http://www.greenkarat.com/ and you can even donate your broken or unused jewelry to charity!

2) Most photographers have gone digital, but I have run into some who swear their film cameras are better, even so, digital photography is going to be very green-friendly. No wasted film or harsh chemicals. Better yet, most digital photographers are happy to hand over their digital proofs for you to print yourself at will.

3) Here's a cool idea, plant a tree on your wedding day (or day before) in front of your house or in a area that is meaningful to you as a couple. Then you can revisit it each year to watch it grow as you grow old together.

4) Spare a tree! Use a wedding website to send out all of your invites, save the dates, save the thought of the dates, and so forth. Cause really, who is going to keep it for very long? If you insist that mailed invites is for you, then use recycled paper!

5) Keep your vendors close, and your reception closer. Save on gas emissions and boost your local economy! I promise, with gas prices this high, your guests will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
